Training organized on Feb.2, 2011 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Karnal), Regional Research Station- Uchani, CCS HAU, Distt. Karnal, State of Haryana, INDIA on Feb. 2nd, 2011 during the Zonal Research Extension Action Committee meeting (Karnal Zone). A special presentation on “Pesticide Poisoning: Precautions & First-Aid” was delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) Sarita Bhalla, Director (Central Insecticides Laboratory) & Joint Director (Medical Toxicology), Central Insecticide Laboratory under the PPP initiative of the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation (Ministry of Agriculture, GOI).

Farmers Awareness Program

  • Punjabi Translations – On behest of the Central Integrated Pest Management Center, Jalandhar, Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine and Storage, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of INDIA, the Punjabi translation of a Hindi booklet on IPM in Paddy (2010 edition ), IPM in Cotton, and IPM in Mustard published by CIPMC, Jalandhar, was undertaken by the Sunrakshan Foundation and completed by Sunrakshak Mrs. Neeraj Saini (Language Specialist : Punjabi / Gurmukhi ) and Mrs. Mandeep Saini (Trustee ), for the benefit of the farmers in Punjab.

V. Bhogpur, Jalandhar

On behest of the farmers of Bhogpur, District Jalandhar, State of Punjab, the Sunrakshan Foundation had organized a comprehensive Farmers training programme on Kharif Paddy Cultivation on May 22nd, 2009. This training was attended by more than 100 farmers, and were updated on the recent recommendations on paddy cultivation, right from procuring seeds, methodology on paddy cultivation, along with mechanized equipment for paddy transplantation, use of micro-nutrients, integrated pest management and government subsidy schemes and related recommendations. Extensive media coverage helped in promoting the efforts of the foundation. The Foundation distributed free copies of the PAU Kharif 2009 Package of Practices (Punjabi publication) among all the participants of the training program estimated around 140 plus.
On behest of the Central Integrated Pest Management Center, Jalandhar, Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine and Storage, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of INDIA, the Punjabi translation of a Hindi booklet on IPM in Paddy published by CIPMC, Jalandhar, was undertaken by the Sunrakshan Foundation and completed by Sunrakshak Mrs. Neeraj Saini (Language Specialist: Punjabi / Gurmukhi), for the benefit of the farmers in Punjab.
Sunrakshan Foundation is proud to have such dedicated Sunrakshaks’s on its panel of experts and is deeply indebted to her for her painstakingly efforts in translating scientific literature with such excellence.

Abohar, Ferozpur

Sunrakshan Foundation participated in the Season Long Training programme in Cotton organized by CIPMC, Jalandhar at Abohar, District Ferozpur, State of Punjab, India (August 11-13th, 2009). The following informal training presentations were conducted:

  1. Safe Use of Pesticides to Avoid Misuse and Poisoning–Legal Obligations [Case Study: India] (presentation involved in briefing the participants on the legal aspects of pesticides in India)
  2. Safe Use of Pesticides to Avoid Misuse and Poisoning –Basic Precautions for Pesticide Usage [ Case Study: India] (presentation highlighted parameters of pesticide use right from their selection, purchase, use and disposal)
  3. Screening of Sunrakshan Foundation documentary entitled “Safe Use of Pesticides to Avoid Misuse and Poisoning – A farmer’s Plight [ Case Study: INDIA] (a documentary highlighting the constraints faced in agriculture of the Indian Farmers)
  4. Safe Use of Pesticides to Avoid Misuse and Poisoning [ Case Study: India] – Sunrakshan Journey March 2009 (presentation shared the views presented by farmers of the Rohtak region, State of Haryana)
  5. Dissemination of agriculture literature related to the above topics.
Ropar, Jalandhar

Sunrakshan Foundation participated in the IPM Orientation Programme organized by State Agriculture Office, Ropar, State of Punjab and CIPMC, Jalandhar at Ropar, District Rupnagar, State of Punjab, India (Sept. 29-30th, 2009). The following presentations were shared:

  1. Screening of documentary entitled “The World Never Saw It Coming – Human’s: God’s Angels or Demons”, (The documentary highlighted the worlds major chemical disasters and their poisonous effects), and
  2. Presentation on Safe Use of Pesticides–Heat Stress while Spraying Pesticides [Case Study: Haryana, INDIA] (the presentation dealt with the proper use and application of pesticides, first aid measure, etc.).
